FRAGRANCE STORY

What would it smell like to be mugged by a flower? "Late one night I was walking from the subway when I lived in NYC and I was mugged at gunpoint. I surrendered my wallet, was pistol-whipped and then left in a heap. After recovering from this traumatizing incident, I experienced something called an 'olfactory hallucination' that lasted for weeks. I would wake up to the smell of tuberose and gardenia, but the flowers were nowhere to be found. After seeing a few doctors I learned that traumatic events can trigger these scent-based hallucinations. It eventually went away, but the experience stuck with me and became the inspiration for this fragrance." - Douglas Little, Founder/Perfumer.

A play on words, Pistil Whip is an explosion of lush florals after a thunderstorm. As the lush petals of this perfume begin to open, mineralic notes of wet stone and rain add depth and dimension to this hypnotic masterpiece. Pistil Whip was nominated for the coveted Fragrance Foundation Award in 2017.

HOW TO WEAR

Our fragrances are gender-neutral and made for everyone.

APPLICATION: We use plant-based natural ingredients, which means our scents are light and sheer. To increase staying power, you’ll want to apply the fragrance periodically throughout the day.

LAYERING: We also encourage you to layer two to three Heretic fragrances not only to increase the overall intensity but to help you create your next signature scent. Choose heavy and lighter blends to layer together, spraying or dabbing the stronger scent first. View the “Layer With” section above for our perfumer’s recommendations.

Edward ★★★★★

There’s something almost stormy about this perfume—the wet stone note makes it feel like the flowers are literally blooming in the rain. I keep catching whiffs of the creamy tuberose and gardenias hours later, and it’s the most unique floral I’ve tried in years.

Carter C. ★★★★★

The tuberose is the star here—it’s lush and creamy without being powdery, and that rain note keeps it from feeling heavy. I sprayed it on before bed and could still catch whiffs of gardenia on my wrist the next morning.

Daniel ★★★★★

The wet stone and rain notes are what sold me—it smells like stepping outside right after a storm, not like a typical perfume. The gardenia and tuberose are creamy but not cloying, and I keep catching whiffs of it hours later.
